WORLD BOOK DAY 2026

We celebrated World Book Day on Friday 6th March 2026 with staff dressing up as their favourite characters and students designing the doors of their tutor rooms as their favourite books. Great fun was had by everyone! 📚

Iceland Trip

On Friday 4^th April, 40 Year 9 and 10 students travelled to Iceland for a 4-day study tour to enhance their learning of key Geography concepts, such as plate tectonics, coastal and river landscapes and sustainable resource management.

On Wednesday 23^rd April, our Year 7 boys' football team travelled to Tabor Academy for the District Cup Final. The final score was 5-2 in favour of Alec Hunter, making us the Year 7 Boys’ Football District Champions! Congratulations to all the Year 7 team!

Made in Braintree - The Final

On Friday 28th March, our students showcased their creativity and business acumen in the Regional Finals of the "Made in Braintree" Competition. After outperforming all other participating schools, only our three teams remained in the competition, demonstrating their exceptional dedication and innovative thinking.

On 1^st March, we were delighted to welcome indie band ‘The Mercians’ to perform for our Year 9 students. The band performed their own music as well as talking to the students about healthy life choices and mental well-being.

Last year, students from Alec Hunter travelled to Morocco with World Challenge. Following the devastating damage and tragic loss of lives caused by the powerful earthquake that hit the region this month, World Challenge are collecting donations to support local communities.

YEAR 8 GERMAN PEN PAL EXCHANGE

Fifty-five students from Year 8 and Year 9 are taking part in a German Pen Pal Project with students from IGS Aurich, a comprehensive school in the town of Aurich in north-west Germany.
