Year 8 Boys’ Football - Cup Final Glory
Alec Hunter Academy stormed to cup final glory with a commanding 5-2 win over Maltings Academy, delivering a performance packed with flair, precision, and clinical finishing, just like Mr Booth, their coach! (Can you tell that he wrote this?! – Mr Lawn)
The match kicked off with Alec asserting early dominance. Slick midfield play carved open the Maltings defence, allowing Lucian Chauhan to slot home the opener and set the tone for what was to come. Holding a slender 1-0 lead into the break, Alec emerged for the second half with renewed intensity. Just five minutes in, Charlie Wilby doubled the advantage with a sublime chip over the keeper - his first of the game. Moments later, Jay Ewunonu orchestrated a brilliant move, feeding Lucian who danced past defenders from outside the box before rifling in his second of the match.
The fourth goal was a team effort of the highest order. Kyle Wood picked out a precise pass to Harry Murr, who threaded a perfect through ball to Marcel Szczepanski. With power and precision, Marcel unleashed a thunderbolt that rattled the crossbar before nestling in the net. Maltings managed to pull one back with a fortunate strike, but Alec’s response was emphatic. Jacob James launched a pinpoint ball to Lucian, who smashed it in off the near post—securing a hat-trick and another goal for Alec's standout striker. A late consolation goal from Maltings in the dying seconds did little to dampen Alec's celebrations, as the final whistle confirmed a 5-2 triumph and crowned Alec Academy as well-deserved District Champions!
