WORLD CHALLENGE 2024 - MALAYSIA

A small group of Year 9 and 10 students visited Malaysia in August 2024 with World Challenge. The 13-night trip included a visit to Kuala Lumpur and Malacca and the students experienced Malaysian markets and cuisine, as well as taking part in marine conservation learning about hawksbill turtles. The students went on night patrols, helped collect data, joined beach cleanups and built turtle hatcheries. The group were delighted to actually witness a turtle come ashore and lay her eggs one night. They then undertook a 2 day trek in the Tasik Chini wetlands – a network of freshwater lakes, plantations and jungles. Students stayed in a mixture of hostels, guesthouses and tent accommodation and experienced Malaysian markets, culture, cuisine and cheeky monkeys!
